One of VIDEO CUTTER's biggest advantages is that it works everywhere a modern browser runs. Whether you're on a desktop workstation, a laptop, a tablet, or a phone, the editing experience is consistent and functional. Here's what to expect on each platform.

On Windows PC (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)

Windows with Chrome or Edge gives you the best overall experience. The browser's hardware acceleration for canvas rendering is fully active, export speeds are fast, and drag-and-drop into the drop zone works seamlessly.

  • Drag your video file directly from File Explorer into the VIDEO CUTTER drop zone
  • Use the mouse to drag timeline handles with precision
  • Keyboard shortcut: Spacebar to play/pause
  • Best quality: Chrome or Edge, latest version

On Mac (Safari, Chrome, Firefox)

Mac support is excellent across all major browsers. Safari on macOS Ventura and later fully supports the Canvas and MediaRecorder APIs required by VIDEO CUTTER. Chrome on Mac is also fully supported.

  • Drag files from Finder into the drop zone
  • Safari note: MOV files (common from iPhone/iCloud) are well-supported on Mac Safari
  • For maximum export speed, use Chrome on Mac โ€” its V8 engine tends to be faster for MediaRecorder workloads

๐Ÿ’ก Safari on macOS

If you're on macOS and using Safari, ensure you're on Safari 15.4 or later for full MediaRecorder support. Earlier versions have limited codec support. Updating to the latest Safari version resolves most compatibility issues.

On iPhone and iPad (Safari)

iOS Safari supports VIDEO CUTTER, though the mobile experience has some differences:

  • Tap the upload area to open the Files app or Photos picker
  • Timeline handles can be dragged with your finger โ€” pinch to zoom the timeline if available
  • Exports work, but may be slower on older iPhone models due to limited processing power
  • After export, the file saves to your Downloads folder or Photos depending on your iOS settings
  • Limitation: Very large files (over ~500MB) may cause memory issues on older devices

On Android (Chrome)

Chrome on Android provides a solid VIDEO CUTTER experience:

  • Tap to open the file picker โ€” access files from Downloads, Google Drive, or your photo library
  • Touch dragging of timeline handles works well on larger screens (tablets especially)
  • Exported files are saved to your Downloads folder
  • Performance is best on flagship or mid-range devices from 2021 onwards

On Chromebook (Chrome)

Chromebook is a great platform for VIDEO CUTTER โ€” Chrome is the native browser, so all features work optimally. Files can be opened directly from the Files app.

General Tips for Any Device

  • Use the latest browser version for best compatibility and performance.
  • Close other tabs before processing large videos โ€” browser memory is shared across tabs.
  • Plug in to power on mobile/laptops before long exports โ€” video processing is CPU-intensive.
  • If a format doesn't load, convert it to MP4 first โ€” browser codec support varies, and MP4/H.264 is universally supported.
