Adding a text watermark to your video is one of the simplest ways to protect your content, brand your work, and discourage unauthorized copying. With VIDEO CUTTER, you can add a fully customizable text watermark without any external software — directly in your browser.

Why Add a Watermark?

A watermark serves several purposes:

  • Brand recognition: Your logo or channel name appears on every clip you publish, reinforcing your identity.
  • Copyright protection: A visible watermark makes it harder for others to pass off your work as their own.
  • Professional appearance: Branded video content looks more polished and intentional.
  • Client proofing: Watermarking draft videos before delivery ensures clients can preview without owning the final cut.

How to Add a Watermark in VIDEO CUTTER

Step 01 — Load Your Video

Go to video-cutter.app, drag your video into the drop zone, or click to browse. Once the video loads, the editor and watermark sections will appear.

Step 02 — Enable the Watermark

Scroll to the Watermark section (Step 03 in the editor). Toggle the switch labeled "Enable Watermark" to on. The watermark options will expand.

Step 03 — Enter Your Text

Type your watermark text in the input field. This could be your name, channel name, website URL, or copyright notice — for example: © YourBrand.com or @yourhandle.

Step 04 — Customize Appearance

Choose your position (bottom-right is standard), font (8 options including Montserrat, Bebas Neue, and Pacifico), font size, and opacity. The live preview at the bottom of the watermark panel shows exactly how it will look.

Step 05 — Export

Scroll to the Export section, choose your format, and click Export Video. The watermark is burned into the exported file at full quality.

Watermark Placement Tips

  • Bottom-right corner is the industry standard — viewers are least likely to look there, but it's still visible.
  • Center watermarks are harder to crop out but can be distracting for viewers.
  • Opacity 50–70% is the sweet spot — visible enough to deter copying, subtle enough not to obstruct the content.
  • Use a font that matches your brand — Bebas Neue for a bold sports/action look, Pacifico for a friendly/lifestyle feel, Montserrat for a clean professional look.

💡 Pro Tip

Include your website URL as the watermark text rather than just your name. It doubles as free advertising — anyone who screenshots your video gets a pointer back to your site.

Does the Watermark Affect Video Quality?

No. The watermark text is rendered directly onto the video frames during export using the Canvas API. It's burned in at full resolution and doesn't introduce any additional compression beyond the export quality you select.
